November's Second Saturday will feature mixed-media collage artist, Miles Shuck!
Miles is a Missoula-based mixed media artist working across collage, linocut, paper weaving, and digital processes. He brings vintage imagery, bold color, and clean geometry together to make playful, tactile compositions that explore identity, what it means to be human, internal worlds, and our relationship to place—especially the American West and the landscapes we carry with us.
The pieces in this show explore the connections between identity and place, and how the landscapes around us help to shape who we are or become. Originally from Arizona, and living for many years in Colorado before settling in Montana, Miles’ work is shaped by the colors, imagery, and experiences of the American West both as an idea, and as the place he’s called home all his life.
Through mixed-media collage, Miles brings together people, bold colors, and elements of nature to create visual narratives. In several pieces, he uses paper weaving to connect subjects, reflecting the idea that all living things are interdependent.
